Knee

The knee joint connects the thigh to the lower leg and comprises of the thigh bone (femur), kneecap (patella), and two bones of the lower leg (tibia and fibula). The main role of the knee joint is to flex and extend (bend and straighten) the knee. Whilst it is the largest joint in the human body its’ articulations are complex and this joint carries the majority of our body weight. This is perhaps why it is so vulnerable to injury, both acute and long term conditions such as osteoarthritis for example.

An injury to the knee can cause significant pain as well as huge disruptions to every day life and function.
