Ultrasound Treatment
Ultrasound treatment is often used by therapists in conjunction with other modalities such as manual therapy, advice and exercise to enhance the healing process.
The ultrasound machine generates a sound wave which travels through the tissues of the body. It is preferentially absorbed in dense collagenous tissues i.e. ligaments, tendons, fascia and joint capsules, It is believed that the absorption of the wave energy brings about several physical changes and the consequence of these changes is that the cells become more excited hence enhancing normal cellular activity and healing.
