Postural Re-training
Good posture is a relatively easy and very important way to maintain a healthy body and mind. Reducing postural stresses and hence improving the body’s alignment can help to alleviate common problems such as back and/or neck pain, headaches, fatigue and stiffness for example.
Everybody has postural deficiencies which may negatively affect their lives but these can very in frequency and severity and are often related to daily routines such as length of time sat at computers, driving or even household duties for example.
Postural problems can also be apparent in sports people and athletes (for example if they play a sport which places more demand on one side of the body than the other).
Postural re-training may include strengthening and flexibility exercises, postural and ergonomic advice, sports specific rehabilitation, core stability strengthening, and specific breathing techniques.
