Trigger Point Release
Trigger points may best be described as tiny knots which develop in a muscle when it is tight, injured or over-used.
Trigger points tend to be highly sensitive to pain when compressed and pressure on these points can send referred pain to other specific areas of the body. It is believed that these trigger points can cause a variety of pain including headaches, neck pain and lower back pain to name but a few.
Trigger point release involves relieving the pressure to these specific areas, usually via manual therapy and/or acupuncture. The effectiveness of these treatments is usually enhanced with stretching and strengthening exercises.
Trigger point release can relieve muscular aches and pains as well as assisting in the restoration of normal movement and return to functional activities.
