Ice Therapy (Cryo-therapy)

Ice or cold therapy has numerous beneficial effects on the body both immediately after injury and in the later stages of rehabilitation.

It is believed that by cooling the surface of the skin and deeper tissues, the blood vessels narrow and hence decrease the amount of blood being delivered to the affected area, in turn therefore reducing swelling.

Healing is enhanced because this reduction in swelling allows more movement in the muscle and joint and so reduces the functional loss associated with injury.
