Osteoarthritis of the wrist
Osteoarthritis might be explained more simply as ‘wear and tear’ of the joint. The wrist is particularly vulnerable due to the excessive amounts of pressure it withstands on a daily basis. Osteoarthritis damages the cartilage, resulting in stiffness and aching of the affected joint. Osteoarthritis can also be triggered by a fracture or a bad wrist sprain.
What causes osteoarthritis?
There is no known cause for osteoarthritis, but it is more common among women. Osteoarthritis can develop at any age, although it occurs more frequently in older people. Injury to a joint can also trigger osteoarthritis, even many years later. For more detailed information pleased refer to Other Conditions, Osteoarthritis multiple joints on this website
